National Institute Of Food Technology Entrepreneurship & Management foundation laid
The foundation-stone of the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) at Kundli in Sonepat district of Haryana was laid today. This Institute will be set up in a 100-acre campus at the cost of 245 crore rupees. It will have technical support form Cornell University, USA.
The vision for NIFTEM is to be an international centre of excellence which integrates all facets of Food Technology Entrepreneurship, Research and Management. It is expected to be as the focal point for catalyzing the growth of food processing industry in India with respect to global scenario. The academic session of NIFTEM is expected to start from 2009.
The mission of NIFTEM is to produce world-class business leaders, develop globally competitive processes and technologies and international best practices in the area of food technology, entrepreneurship and management. NIFTEM would be the apex R&D institute in India and coordinate all R&D efforts in this sector in the country. It will carry out R&D in frontier areas, develop world-class technologies and assist the Government in Food Processing Policy.
Food processing has an important role to play in linking Indian agriculture to consumers in the domestic and international markets. NIFTEM is to be set up as a world class institution to cater to the needs of various stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, industry, exporters, policy makers, government and existing institutions. NIFTEM would work actively in assisting in setting food standards, business incubation and information sharing.

VC is the brain child of Dr. Praveen R. Jain. He holds a diploma in Career Counseling in addition to Master of Arts in Public Administration.
