A series of innovations in education pioneered by the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode in partnership with the Singapore headquartered Global Indian International network of schools recently conducted the ‘Leading Schools’, program. It was a 3 day workshop from February 13- 15, 2010. IIMK hosted 35 participants that comprised Principals, Chairpersons, etc from the Global Indian International Schools. With the objective of creating a construct defining how International education with Indian values can be re-imported into India, this initiative will create new milestones in K-12 education.

Along with strategizing on leadership, the workshop also ideated on nurturing global schools, having curriculum which creates an environment for “nurturing global citizens” as sustainable institutions of learning in a technology driven knowledge age. Global Indian International Schools (GIIS) offer International Baccalaureate, Cambridge IGCSE and CBSE education along with a host of unique programmes.. Managed by the Singapore headquartered Global Indian Foundation (GIF), GIIS schools offer an international/world class education with Indian values.

Professor Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIMK said “This is the first in series of several such initiatives from IIM-K’s Leading Schools Programme. This initiative will create new milestones in K-12 education and this is possibly the first time that School Principals, IIM faculty and educators came together in a development programme focusing on a new strategic direction for K 12 education.”

The IIM K team under the leadership of Professor Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM K and the GIIS leadership team led by Atul Temurnikar and GIF management, Principals and Directors from 6 countries worked together under the IIM led ‘Leading Schools’ programme.
