The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2008 at 214 venues located in 41 centres throughout the country on 17th August 2008 (Sunday). Admission Certificates to candidates have been dispatched. Letters of rejection to the candidates stating reason (s) for rejection have also been issued. If any applicant has not received any of the above mentioned communications, he may contact UPSC Facilitation Counter on Tel No. 011-23385271, 23381125 or 2098543 on working days during working hours. The candidates may also send fax messages on Fax No. 011-23387310.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today declared the result of Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination (I)-2007. 254 candidates (225* + 29^) have finally qualified on the basis of the results of the CDS Examination (I)-2007 conducted by the UPSC and interviews held by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence for admission to the (i) *Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai for 87th Short Service Commission Course (for men); and (ii) ^1st Short Service Commission (Women Non-Technical) Course, commencing in April, 2008.
The list of 87th Short Service Commission Course (for men) also includes the names of the candidates who were recommended earlier on the basis of the result of the same examination for admission to the Indian Military Academy-Dehradun/Naval Academy-Goa Course and Air Force Station-Begumpet, Hyderabad Course (s).

The Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the Combined Defence Services Examination (I) – 2008 at 41 Centres in the country on 17/2/2008 (Sunday). Admission Certificates to all the eligible candidates for the Examination have been dispatched. Rejection Letters citing the grounds for rejection have also been dispatched. If any applicant has not received either the Admission Certificate or the Rejection Letter, he/she may contact the UPSC Facilitation Counter on Telephone Nos. 011-23381125, 011-23385271 & 011-23098543 and 011-23387402 on any working days. Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2008 will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on 18th May, 2008 for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and certain other Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ Central Services/Posts at various centres across the country.

The Sainik Schools will hold an all-India entrance examination on Sunday, January 6, 2008 for the session 2008-09 for admission to classes Sixth and Ninth. Admission test will be held at various centres for all 21 Sainik Schools across the country barring Nagrota, Jammu and Kashmir, which will conduct a separate examination.
Boys between the age of 10 and 11 years as on July 1, 2008 can apply for admission to Class VI while those between 13 and 14 years are eligible for Class IX.
Necessary advertisements inviting applications are being issued by the respective Sainik Schools this month. The prospectus can be obtained by the candidates from the Sainik Schools where admission is desired on payment of Rupees 300/- (Rs.200/- for SC/ST) by crossed Postal Order in favour of the Principal. Last date for receipt of applications is December 10, 2007.
